INTERACTIVE WALLPAPERS
Acid Shellscape Wallpapers
Terminal landscapes that live on your screen.
For Wallpaper Engine and Android.
[ In development ]
[ 01 — WHAT IT DOES ]
A living landscape, without leaving the style.
- Time of day: day, sunset and night follow the clock. The sun rises on the right, climbs and sets on the left; the moon does the same at night. The theme switch happens cell by cell, with no fade.
- Mouse: layers move in one-cell steps (parallax), clouds follow the wind, the cursor becomes a yellow blob and a click releases a ring of characters.
- Style: 10 frames per second, no easing and no gradients. All randomness comes from
hash(column, row, seed). - Android: there are two wallpapers, a full one for the lock screen and a clean one with just the landscape for the home screen, plus clock, weather, calendar, battery, music and landscape widgets, all drawn with the same recipes.
- Battery: the canvas never exceeds 2560 px and the browser pauses the animation when the window is hidden.
[ 02 — WHERE IT RUNS ]
Each system has its own path.
| Platform | How | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Lively Wallpaper (free) or Wallpaper Engine (Steam) | ready-made package |
| Linux | depends on the desktop: KDE Plasma, wlroots (Sway, Hyprland) or GNOME | testing |
| Android | native Kotlin app: two live wallpapers and six widgets | working, no public download yet |
The index.html file is the whole wallpaper, with no dependencies. URL parameters like ?tema=noite and &hora=18.5 let you test any time of day in the demo.
[ 03 — WINDOWS ]
Classic Mac windows over a field of cells.

Clock, weather and music become windows that react to sound. Their design guide is in the Acid Shellscape repository.
