Sightline
Team testing, everyone in the same room.
Testers stream their screens, observers follow on a grid and every bug becomes a Flare.
[ In testing ]Testing as a group over Discord doesn't scale.
When several people test software together, the work scatters: everyone streams differently, screenshots get lost in the chat, and notes turn into manual labor. I wanted all of it in one place.
Open the room, stream, follow, fire.
- The moderator opens the roomCreates the session and sends one link to the people who will test and another to those who will observe.
- Testers streamEach person shares their own screen and, if they want, camera and audio. Anyone without an account joins with just a name.
- Observers followThe streams sit on a grid that fills the window and splits across several monitors.
- A bug becomes a FlareThe tester fires a Flare: their frame lights up red and a report with a screenshot appears for everyone.
You can already open it.
The test version runs at sightline.kadmo.dev. It is there to validate with real sessions: it still changes a lot, and it needs testing with more people and in more browsers.
- Email accounts, with a link or a password, and temporary testers who join with just a name.
- A room with chat, moderator instructions, notes, screenshots and clips.
- Interface in Brazilian Portuguese, ready for other languages.
Built first for people who write software.
The initial focus is software teams. Indie game studios come next, with the same idea: observed test sessions, live.
Every piece behind an interface.
It is a web app in React and TypeScript. Live video and audio go through LiveKit, and accounts, reports and screenshots live in Supabase. The screens never talk to those services directly: they talk to interfaces of their own, so a vendor can be swapped without rewriting the interface.
Dark, square-cornered, and the interface is a grid.
The room is a grid of streams, so the interface is one too: 1 px lines, square corners and mono labels with the session time. The background is a field of pixels that looks like a video signal and stays out of the live room. Red is reserved for the Flare and the logo dot.
The test version is online.
